first_imgSource = ETB News: Megan Tran Rhapsody of the Seas will dock at Sydney Heads on Friday, officially launching Royal Caribbean’s summer period.This also marks the 2,000-guest superliner’s last Australian term, after beginning the journey for Royal Caribbean in Australia as the first Australian-based ship for the cruise line.Royal Caribbean International commercial director Sean Treacy said Rhapsody of the Seas changed the Australian cruising landscape when she was first home-ported in 2007.“Not only was she the largest ship based here, she offered onboard features never seen before on local waters, like Australia’s first rock-climbing wall at sea, and her innovation helped kick-start and shape the booming cruise industry we see here today,” Mr Treacy said.“We never rest on our laurels at Royal Caribbean and know that we need to keep revolutionising the cruise industry.“For instance, we have invested heavily in Australia’s stellar local fleet, with multimillion dollar refurbishments made to all three ships in the last four years.”Rhapsody of the Seas will be joined with sister ships Radiance of the Seas and freshly invigorated Voyager of the Seas, with the siblings sailing out of Sydney between October 2014 and April 2015.last_img
