Rohit Sharma joins elite list with 4000 Indian Premier League runs

first_imgRohit Sharma became the fourth batsman to score 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League, joining the likes of Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir in the prestigious list.Rohit reached the landmark with a single off Pawan Negi in Mumbai Indians’ match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.The Mumbai Indians skipper, who started off with the Deccan Chargers back in 2008, joined Mumbai Indians in the 2011 auction and since then has gone onto play for the Mumbai franchise. He was made the captain in 2013 and Mumbai won the IPL and the Champions Trophy that year. He led them to their second title in 2015.Rohit, who came into the tournament on the back of an injury, took some time to find form but with time he has eased into system and has led the team to seven victories from nine games so far.The stylish right-hander, who is looking to make a mark and earn a comeback into the Indian ODI squad ahead of the Champions Trophy in England in June has scored 122 runs so far from 10 games, with 58 being his highest.The 29-year-old, who will turn 30 on April 30, took 152 matches to reach the landmark at an average of 32.77, his highest score being 109*.last_img
