Free.Get all the latest Pasadena news, more than 10 fresh stories daily, 7 days a week at 7 a.m. Subscribe Home of the Week: Unique Pasadena Home Located on Madeline Drive, Pasadena Business News Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority Hears Passenger Traffic at Hollywood Burbank Airport May Reach 5 Million Passengers From STAFF REPORTS Published on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 | 5:05 pm Passenger traffic at Hollywood Burbank Airport may reach five million at the end of the year if traveling trends continue going up.Nerissa Sugars, manager for air service development at the airport, has reported that 451,343 passengers went through the terminals in May, an increase of 47,821 from May 2017, the Burbank Leader reported.Sugars made a presentation before members of the tri-city Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority during a meeting on Monday.In February, airport officials reported about 4.7 million passengers in 2017, about 600,000 more than in 2016. Four years ago, Hollywood Burbank tallied about 3.8 million passengers, according to airport statistics cited in the Burbank Leader report.Southwest Airlines, the largest carrier operating at Hollywood Burbank, had 332,805 passengers in May, about 28,600 more than the previous year.United Airlines reported having 34,411 passengers, 8,500 more than the previous year. Alaska Airlines reported 50,753 passengers, a rise of 8,105 over last year, the report said.American Airlines saw its first sign of growth for 2018, reporting 14,452 passengers, about 2,200 more than last year. The carrier added a fourth daily flight in its schedule this year.Delta Airlines and Jet Blue Airways both reported a relatively flat month, Sugars said.The airport also reported improvement in parking revenues, which was about $1.84 million in May. Ride-sharing fees also increased, with the airport reporting receipts of $255,549 in May, up by $24,858 over last year’s.
