first_imgNovember 11, 2020 /Sports News – Local Utah Men’s Basketball Signs Serbian National Lazar Stefanovic FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailSALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, University of Utah men’s basketball head basketball coach Larry Krystkowiak announced the signing of Serbian national, guard Lazar Stefanovic.Stefanovic, a 6-6 180-pound guard out of Belgrade, Serbia, is the Utes’ sole signing on National Signing Day.Krystkowiak expressed his appreciation and excitement for the signing, calling Stefanovic a “tremendous player with high-character.” Krystkowiak also cited Stefanovic’s academic excellence, stating he is a great fit for the Utes’ program.Stefanovic has previous FIBA experience and played a key role in Partizan U18 claiming the Adidas Next Generation Tournament title at Belgrade.In this competition, Stefanovic netted 15.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest.This past season, Stefanovic saw action in 26 games with KK Mladost Zemun, a professional men’s basketball club located near Belgrade.For this squad, Stefanovic netted 7 points, 2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.In 2018, Stefanovic averaged 19 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest with the Partizan U16 squad in the Trophie Novog Grad Tournament.
