Brock students to get a taste of big leagues

Two key figures from the Toronto Blue Jays organization are giving guest lectures on campus.Alex Anthopoulos, Senior Vice-President of Baseball Operations and General Manager, and Andrew Tinnish, director of scouting, for the Toronto Blue Jays, will be at Brock on Wednesday, Jan. 19 to deliver separate lectures to students from the Sport Management program.“We’re extremely pleased to be welcoming Alex and Andrew to campus to speak with our students,” said Cheri Bradish, associate professor, Sport Management. “This is a great opportunity for them to get a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes world of professional sport management.”Anthopoulos will discuss giving in sport, as well as other sport- and business-related topics. His lecture takes place from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in Academic South 203.Tinnish, a Brock alumnus and member of the inaugural Brock Badgers baseball team, will speak to students about globalization and sport from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Thistle 248.A graduate of Brock’s Sport Management program, Tinnish will share his experiences and worldwide perspectives on the sport with current students of the program.These lectures are not open to the public, but are open to all Brock students. read more
